Welcome to Gawthorpe Brass '85 and thanks for visiting our website.  We hope you like it!

We are proud of being a little different to many other community Brass Bands. We are a family of around 150 people, of all ages, backgrounds and abilities who come together to make music.  As you may have guessed from our name, we were formed in 1985, and we rehearse in the village of Gawthorpe in Ossett, Wakefield.

Our latest CD, entitled 'Marching Onward', was recorded in celebration of our 30th anniversary and is now available to buy.  Visit the 'GB'85 goodies' tab for information on how to purchase it.

Our organisation is very fortunate to have a Senior Band, a Youth Band, a Training Band, a Beginners Club, a Music Workshop and a Music Fun Club.  We are completely self-financing, and therefore rely on making music that people want to listen to.

Our Senior Band has won many accolades over the last few years and have also been featured on Simon Cowell's prime time TV programme, Food Glorious Food!

Our repertoire is very diverse, from traditional marches & hymns, all the way through to the pieces from stage & screen.  We've even featured music from 'The Killers'!

We are very proud to have Andrew Sutcliffe (whose family have had a long and proud association with our band) as our President.  Leigh Baker (ex Jayess, Brighouse & Rastrick to name but a few) is our Honorary Vice President, who is married to Rachael Elsworth, daughter of our founding member, Susan Elsworth.

Our site is constantly developing, so if you have any suggestions you'd like us to consider, please contact our webmaster on:
